Instructional Leadership Bootcamps

Overview

In addition to the two-year Instructional Leadership Fellowship, we host Instructional Leadership Bootcamps designed to provide aspiring and current instructional leaders with the technical and inspirational leadership skills that they can immediately apply in their work. Each Bootcamp is organized around a specific topic and is broken down into 1-2 days of in-person content, facilitated by experts in the field. Participants will practice newly learned skills with real-time feedback from peers and the facilitators. Bootcamp sessions are open to all teachers and instructional leaders who meet the attendance criteria.

Facilitators also model that educator development is just as data-driven as instruction by adapting each Bootcamp to the leadership development needs of the participants.

Bootcamps are offered à la carte, and space is limited. Below are the dates and the link to register. We look forward to helping you to improve instruction at your school(s) and thereby enhance student experience and outcomes!

Participation Criteria

In order to attend Bootcamps, you must meet the following criteria:

  • You serve in a role responsible for teacher coaching and development, or you are a teacher who is interested in taking on an instructional leadership or coaching role within the next 1-2 years
  • You are able to attend both dates of any 2-day session
  • You will commit to completing pre- and post-work*
  • You are eager for and responsive to real-time feedback from facilitators and peers

*While rigorous, the pre and post-work are directly connected to the responsibilities of the roles named above. It is assigned because our experience tells us and research shows that unless professional development is embedded in on-the-job applications, then it doesn’t drive change. Video submission of leaders’ onsite work is frequently used as post-work. We review these videos closely, provide detailed individual feedback and use our review of participants’ work to tailor sessions. Additionally, it is important to know that submission of post-work following each session is the requirement of entry to the subsequent session within the topic. If you cannot commit to completing both pre-work and post-work, you will not experience the results intended through participation in these sessions.

Session Descriptions

Bootcamps are offered à la carte, and space is limited. Below are full session descriptions. Each registration button will direct to the same form where you will be able to select all of the Bootcamps that you wish to attend.

True Colors | July 22, 2026

True Colors for Personal Success is a research-based approach to help educators understand their unique personality styles and the diverse styles of their colleagues and students. Based on a proven system of four distinct color-coded personality types, True Colors fosters self-awareness, improves communication, and strengthens collaboration among educators. By identifying personal strengths and understanding others’ perspectives, educators can create more inclusive and supportive learning environments. Together, these practices contribute to a stronger instructional environment, and when paired with rigorous academics, support measurable gains in student proficiency, growth, and readiness over time.

The workshop has the potential to strengthen classroom relationships and communication —conditions that support effective instruction when paired with strong academic practices. When educators understand their own communication and teaching styles, they can better identify and respond to the varied needs of their students and staff. This leads to more personalized instruction, stronger relationships, and improved classroom dynamics. These shifts can improve classroom culture and responsiveness, which, when paired with rigorous instruction, support stronger student engagement. True Colors equips educators with tools to promote staff and student engagement, build trust, and enhance overall student success.

Academic Monitoring 1.0 | July 27, 2026

Academic Monitoring is a core set of teaching moves that accelerates student learning in real time during every lesson. In this session, coaches will build a deep understanding of the foundations of Academic Monitoring, including the intellectual preparation required, the student and teacher routines that make it habitual, and the key moves that drive impact in the moment.

Coaches will analyze examples, practice the core moves, and prepare to model Academic Monitoring at a high level. By the end of the session, they will have a clear, actionable plan to implement Academic Monitoring in their classrooms and across their teams. Participants will leave with practical tools, including a Monitoring Checklist and an implementation action plan, to support strong rollout and follow-through.

Internalization Protocols | July 28-29, 2026

If we want students to experience rigorous, engaging instruction every day, it starts with how we prepare. In this two-day session, coaches will learn and practice protocols for internalizing curriculum at both the unit and lesson level, with a focus on identifying the key moments of productive struggle that drive student thinking.

Coaches will engage in hands-on practice unpacking content, analyzing lesson plans, and delivering high-quality feedback that strengthens instructional planning. They will also learn how to observe instruction with the lesson plan in hand and build systems that ensure consistent, high-quality internalization across teams.

By the end of the session, participants will leave with strong examples of intellectual preparation and a clear plan to implement internalization systems that set teachers up to deliver rigorous, standards-aligned instruction from day one.

Observation Feedback | September 16-17, 2026

Strong observation and feedback only drive teacher growth when leaders plan well and execute with precision. This boot camp is designed for leaders who want to sharpen their ability to turn the See It, Name It, Do It framework into high-quality, repeatable coaching moves.

Participants will spend the majority of the session planning and practicing: identifying a focused action step and delivering clear, bite-sized feedback that teachers can immediately act on. Through repeated rehearsal and targeted feedback, leaders will strengthen their ability to see it, name it, and do it in real time. We’ll also touch on the structures that support consistency, but the primary focus is on building skill in planning and facilitation.

Academic Monitoring 2.0 & Real-Time Feedback | October 19-20, 2026

At its highest level, Academic Monitoring is a rapid cycle: set a clear learning focus, gather real-time data on student understanding, and respond in the moment to move learning forward. This train-the-trainer session prepares coaches to both model this cycle and coach teachers to execute it with precision

Coaches will study and practice high-impact coaching moves, including facilitating coaching conversations grounded in Academic Monitoring and delivering Real-Time Feedback (RTF) to build teacher skill in the moment. They will engage in live practice analyzing student learning, identifying gaps, and coaching teachers to respond effectively.

By the end of the session, coaches will have a clear plan to develop teacher proficiency in Academic Monitoring and to leverage real-time feedback as a core lever for rapid instructional improvement. They will leave with coaching scripts and concrete plans to accelerate teacher proficiency with Academic Monitoring.

Weekly Data Meetings | December 14-15, 2026

Weekly data meetings (also known as Looking at Student Work Meetings) only improve student outcomes when they are tightly planned and skillfully led. This boot camp is built for leaders who want to move beyond surface-level conversations and run meetings that consistently lead to clear instructional next steps, a key driver of improved student outcomes when implemented consistently.

Participants will spend the majority of the session planning and practicing: analyzing student data, identifying the most important trends, and facilitating focused conversations that translate into concrete actions for teachers and targeted “at-bats” for students. Leaders will rehearse key facilitation moves and receive real-time feedback from peers and the facilitator. We’ll briefly introduce supporting monitoring systems, but the core focus is building strong planning and facilitation skills.
