Privacy Policy
The Opportunity Trust respects your privacy and believes that the best way to serve you on the Internet is with honesty, accountability, and adherence to legal standards. We are sensitive to your privacy and have structured our online activities to maximize your control over the disclosure of your own personally identifiable information. By using The Opportunity Trust’s site (the “Site”), you agree to be bound by the terms of this Privacy Policy.
Collection of Personal Information
The Opportunity Trust collects and stores varying types of information about you depending on your activities when visiting the Site. However, The Opportunity Trust will collect no personally identifiable information about you when you visit the Site unless you voluntarily choose to provide that information (for example, by sending us an e-mail or by completing an online application for one of our Fellowship programs).
Active Sharing
If you choose to identify yourself by sending an email, for example, the Site will collect and store personally identifiable information. Personally identifiable information may include your name, address, telephone number, and email address. Any personal information you provide is submitted at your discretion.
Passive Sharing
If during your visit you browse the Site, read pages, or download information, only anonymous information is collected automatically. We use Google Analytics to collect anonymous information that is used to measure the number of visitors accessing the various Web pages of this Site and to make the Site more useful to you and other visitors. Anonymous information is not personally identifiable and includes information such as: the name of the domain and host from which you access the Internet (for example, aol.com); the Internet Protocol (“IP”) address of the computer you are using (an IP address is a number that is automatically assigned to your computer by your Internet Service Provider); the browser software you use and your operating system; and the Internet address of the Web site from which you linked directly to this Site. The Opportunity Trust and its Site operators may collect anonymous information through the use of cookies or by other means. You can learn more about how Google Analytics collects and processes information here.
Cookies
This Site uses standard Internet “cookie” technology. A cookie is a bit of information that is stored on a visitor’s hard drive that allows the Site to track how a visitor navigates the Site. This is similar to a traffic report: it tracks trends and behaviors, but does not personally identify individuals. With most Internet browsers or other software, you can erase cookies from your computer hard drive, block all cookies, or receive a warning before a cookie is stored. Please refer to your browser instructions or help screen to learn more about these functions. If you reject cookies, your use of our Site may be limited.
Use of Personal Information
The Opportunity Trust may use your personal information for the following purposes: to share updates from The Opportunity Trust through emails; to administer and make improvements to the Site; to collect demographic information; and/or to analyze the collected information. We will not disclose your personal information to any third parties unless we obtain your prior consent or are legally compelled to do so.
Linking to Third-Party Web Sites
This Site contains links to sites operated by third parties. These links are provided to you for informational purposes only; once you connect with another site by choosing a link, you will no longer be on The Opportunity Trust’s Site. The posting of third-party sites does not represent The Opportunity Trust’s endorsement or support of the linked organization, its programs or services, or the content included on its site. Please review each linked site’s privacy policy. If you do not agree to be bound by the terms of the policy governing that site, terminate your visit to that site. We are not responsible for the privacy policies, practices, or content of sites operated by third parties.
Security
The Opportunity Trust has policies and procedures in place to protect the privacy and confidentiality of your personal information that is collected and maintained. We have implemented security measures for all information systems under The Opportunity Trust’s control so that, to the extent possible, information will not be lost, misused, or altered. While we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your Personal Information, we cannot guarantee its absolute security.
Our Commitment to Our Donors
We will not sell, share, or trade our donors’ names or personal information with any other entity, nor send mailings to our donors on behalf of other organizations. This policy applies to all information received by The Opportunity Trust both online and offline or through any other business activities, including electronic, written, or oral communications.
To the extent any donations or event registrations are processed through a third-party service provider, our donors’ information will only be used for purposes necessary to process, acknowledge, and report the donation.
