Instructional Leadership Bootcamps

Overview

In addition to the full Instructional Leadership Fellowship, we host Bootcamps designed to provide instructional leaders with the technical and inspirational leadership skills that they can immediately apply in their work. Each Bootcamp is organized around a topic and is broken down into two to three days of in-person and virtual content, facilitated by experts in the field. Participants benefit from multiple rounds of preparation and practice of newly learned skills, with real-time feedback from peers and the facilitators. Facilitators also model that educator development is just as data-driven as instruction by adapting each Bootcamp to the leadership development needs of the participants.

Bootcamps have a separate registration process from the fellowship. Below are the dates and criteria for admission to the Bootcamp sessions, as well as the registration link if you meet the criteria.  We look forward to helping you to improve instruction at your school(s) and thereby enhance student experience and outcomes!

Criteria for Qualification

In order to attend Bootcamps, you must meet the following criteria:

  • You are able to commit to all dates per session topic.  For example, if you sign up for the August Intensive on Observation Feedback, you must be available to attend each Bootcamp day on August 6, 7, and 28.
  • You serve in one of the following roles at your school: principal, assistant principal, instructional leader, dean of curriculum and instruction, any other role responsible for change management and teacher coaching and development.
  • You are able to commit to completing the necessary pre-work and post-work required for each session.
    • While rigorous, the pre and post-work is directly connected to the responsibilities of the roles named above. It is assigned because our experience tells us and research shows that unless professional development is embedded in on-the-job applications, then it doesn’t drive change. Video submission of leaders’ onsite work is frequently used as post-work. We review these videos closely, provide detailed individual feedback and use our review of participants’ work to tailor sessions. Additionally, it is important to know that submission of post-work following each session is the requirement of entry to the subsequent session within the topic.
  • You are eager for and responsive to real-time feedback from facilitators and peers!
  • You are able to be all-in during sessions, attending them in their entirety, striving to be tech-free and ready to take risks that will enhance your own learning and the learning of others.
