Meet Our Cohort 7 Catalyst Fellows
Our 7th Catalyst Fellowship cohort convened in the fall around a simple premise: to collaborate with local, regional, and national experts to design powerful solutions to meet the authentic needs of their communities.
Over the last 6 months, this cohort has built an understanding of our local education context, learned the idea incubation and implementation process, tested their ideas, and built the skills to bring their life-changing ideas back to their communities.

Kimberly Allred
ELA Teacher | St. Louis Voices Academy
Kimberly is a St. Louis native and lifelong learner who cares deeply about educational equity in general, but especially within the city of St. Louis. She was born and raised on the Northside of the city, and it baffled her that she got bused 45 minutes away from home to get a “better” education. These years sparked her curiosity towards the reasons for the differences (perceived and realistic) between her education and the education of her peers who went to school in her neighborhood. She would love to be a part of a dynamic positive shift in this city!
Kimberly has spent the last 12 years teaching, with time spent in Nashville, Atlanta, and now, St. Louis, MO. She is excited and honored to be a part of a sophisticated, educational think tank whose purpose is to examine issues through a focus-based lens. She looks forward to putting her stamp on a positive change for her hometown.
Joe Alway
Founder | Multicultural Arts Foundation of St. Louis
For 33 years, Joe nurtured talents as a Performing Arts educator. He honed his skills in the Bronx, NY, and briefly lived in Puerto Rico where he performed for royalty – King Juan Carlos and Queen Sofia of Spain – during their 1987 visit to the island.
Joe found his artistic home in Los Angeles, California, where he thrived as an entertainer while teaching. He opened FAMA International, an actors agency for minorities, has written multiple theatrical productions and is preparing to direct several documentaries with his Cross-Cultural Film-Doc production company.
Additionally, Joe fosters positive change with his anti-bullying program ‘Bullied No-More.’ His advocacy extended to humanitarian efforts, gathering resources for underserved children. This commitment led him to adopt two sons, transforming his compassion into action.
Joe advocates for human rights, emphasizing the transformative power of education through the arts. He continues speaking on education and resources for dyslexia and dyscalculia. In 2021, he founded the non-profit Multicultural Arts Foundation of Saint Louis, a platform fostering diversity and creativity, where he is working on opening the Multicultural Academy & Conservatory of the Performing Arts.
